Overview

A duplex VFD control panel for booster pump systems runs two pumps from one enclosure and holds discharge pressure at a fixed setpoint regardless of how much water the building is drawing. A pressure transducer on the discharge header feeds the controller, and the Variable Frequency Drive trims pump speed continuously, so the setpoint holds whether one shower is open or forty are. When demand exceeds what the lead pump can deliver, the lag pump is brought in; when demand falls back, it drops out. Duplex means the panel also alternates which booster pump takes the lead role, so run hours accumulate evenly instead of wearing out one pump while the other sits idle. Against a fixed-speed panel, pressure stops swinging between cut-in and cut-out, motors stop hard-starting, and the pump only draws the power the building is asking for, which is where the 20-35% energy savings sit. Full PLC automation with 7" color touchscreen for real-time monitoring, alarm history, and parameter adjustment.

The duplex VFD control panels JOHOB supplies are built by Chutian using Inovance variable frequency drives. Inovance is a mainstream industrial drive line, which matters for two reasons that show up years after commissioning: parameter documentation is available in English, and drive replacement does not require re-engineering the whole panel around a discontinued proprietary controller. The panel arrives factory-wired and factory-tested rather than as a box of components assembled at the jobsite. JOHOB sources the panel and the pumps from the same supply chain, which is why we prefer to quote the panel together with the commercial booster pumps we supply where the customer has that flexibility. We supply booster pumps from CDL, which builds engineered vertical multistage pumps, and from established brands including Grundfos, DAB, and Speroni. When the panel and the pumps come from a single quotation, motor data, drive sizing, and control logic are matched once at the quoting stage instead of being reconciled during commissioning. For retrofit work where the pumps are staying, we quote the panel on its own against the existing motor nameplate data.

A duplex VFD control panel is specified against the pumps it will control and the environment it will sit in, so a quotation moves fastest when the enquiry carries six data points. First, the motor nameplate data for both pumps: kilowatt rating, full load current, voltage, and phase, since drive sizing follows full load current rather than kilowatts alone. Second, the number of pumps and whether a third pump or a jockey is planned later, because expansion is far cheaper to design in than to retrofit. Third, the target discharge pressure and the range the building can tolerate. Fourth, the mounting location: an air-conditioned pump room, an open utility deck, or an exposed rooftop each call for a different enclosure rating, and outdoor mounting in Philippine conditions needs an ingress-rated build like our IP55 outdoor VFD panel for exposed mounting. Fifth, the incoming supply arrangement and whether the panel must coordinate with a generator changeover. Sixth, any building management system integration or remote alarm requirement. Send what you have; where drawings or nameplate photos are incomplete we will tell you exactly which figure is missing rather than guessing and quoting the wrong drive. Retrofit buyers replacing a failed panel on a live booster pump set, the situation covered in our

condominium booster pump replacement guide for Manila, should send motor nameplate photos with the first message so the panel can be quoted against the pumps that are staying.

What Determines Your Quote

Every quote is engineered to your operating requirements. Pricing depends on:

  • Configuration: capacity, flow rate, head pressure, motor size, voltage/phase, materials of construction
  • Certification tier: WRAS-cert vs commercial-grade, ASME stamping, IP rating for panels
  • Delivery region: nationwide (Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao); freight varies by destination
  • Installation scope: supply-only, supply + mechanical install, or full turn-key with commissioning
  • Payment structure: milestone terms tailored to project timeline (typically 40/30/20/10 for engineered scopes; 70/30 for equipment supply)
  • Tax status: 12% VAT applies to VAT-registered buyers; Zero-VAT available for eligible PEZA / SBMA locators and exporters

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a duplex VFD control panel work with my existing booster pumps?

Yes, in most cases. A retrofit panel is specified against the motor nameplate data of the pumps already installed: kilowatt rating, full load current, voltage, and phase. Send photographs of both motor nameplates and the panel can be quoted on its own without replacing the pumps. Two conditions matter. The motors must be suitable for inverter duty, and the existing discharge header must have or be able to accept a pressure transducer tapping. We will flag either issue at the quoting stage rather than after delivery.

What is the lead time for a duplex VFD booster pump panel in the Philippines?

Standard lead times are 21 to 35 days for ex-stock configurations and 45 to 90 days for made-to-order panels. Which band applies depends on the drive rating, the enclosure specification, and how much custom control logic or building management system integration the panel carries. A panel built around a non-standard enclosure rating or an unusual voltage sits in the made-to-order band. Release the panel to procurement early in the construction programme, since it is commonly the long-lead item in a booster set package rather than the pumps themselves.

Do you supply the panel only, or the complete booster pump set?

Both. JOHOB Hardware Trading supplies complete pumping and pressure systems including booster pumps, transfer pumps, submersible pumps, pressure tanks, valves, and stainless steel flexible hose, as well as panel-only supply for retrofit work. Where the project allows it we prefer to quote the panel and pumps together, because motor data, drive sizing, and control logic are then matched once at the quoting stage instead of being reconciled on site during commissioning. For panel-only supply we quote against the nameplate data of the pumps you already have installed.

Is the panel zero-rated for VAT if we are a PEZA or SBMA locator?

Yes. Registered PEZA and SBMA locators and registered exporters are zero-rated, while 12 percent VAT applies to VAT-registered buyers in the ordinary case. State your registration status when you send the enquiry, along with the registration details your accounting team will need reflected on the documents, and the quotation is issued on the correct basis from the outset. This avoids a reissue later in the approval cycle, which is a common cause of delay when a purchase order is already circulating for signature.

What certifications and documentation come with the panel?

The electrical panels we supply carry CE marking, the manufacturers operate ISO 9001 certified quality management systems, and components are TUV SUD tested. On request the documentation package includes the panel general arrangement drawing, the schematic and wiring diagram, the drive parameter list as configured, component datasheets, and the factory test record. Request the package at the quoting stage so the factory prepares it with the shipment. Note that JOHOB Hardware Trading supplies equipment and is not a licensed contractor, so installation and electrical connection are carried out by your own licensed practitioner.

Do you deliver and support duplex VFD panels outside Metro Manila?

Yes. Coverage is nationwide across the Philippines: NCR, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the PEZA, SBMA, and Clark economic zones. Include the full delivery address with the province in your enquiry so freight is costed into the quotation rather than added afterwards as a surprise line. Local warranty and after-sales support apply to provincial deliveries on the same basis as Metro Manila, which is the practical argument for sourcing through a Philippine supplier instead of importing a panel directly from an overseas factory.
